End of the World

I had an unusual chat with a checkout girl last night. It was snowing outside and she found it odd that I was buying ice-lollies (no cornettos though- the new cheaper price had promted a rush on them. Or it could have been the post Hot Fuzz surge in sales, which presumably also occurred after Sean of the Dead.) and commented on the fact ("Somebody likes ice-lollies"). The conversation moved on to the odd state of the weather and then global warming. She threw in the suggestion that we need to end all the wars before worrying about global warming and finally that everything that was going on in the world was the start of the end of the world. An odd thing to hear at the supermarket, but much better than the surly behaviour normally served up by checkout staff.
